School Visits
We visit schools and orphanages to educate the children about street dogs and pet ownership. Our activities focus on safety – for animals and humans – as well as caring connections to be made with street dogs. Humane Education in Nepal’s schools can help to end animal abuse and neglect because it teaches kindness, compassion and empathy toward street dogs – and all companion animals.
The details about our program at some of the schools we've visited are given below.

Sanskriti International School
Through our “animal awareness" in-class program, we aim to enhance children’s compassion, respect, and responsibility towards all living creatures, particularly dogs. At Sanskriti International School, children were also taught about other aspects of animal welfare such as safe interaction with dogs to prevent dog-bites/scratches and understanding dog body language and rabies.
Ullens School
Fourth graders from Ullens School attended our dog-focused humane education class. During the in-class presentation, they learned how to prevent dog bites/scratches, to show kindness and respect towards stray dogs and to speak up for animals. We also heard from the children about their thoughts and experiences they had with stray dogs. Special thank you to the teachers, volunteers and Kate and Doug Clendon from Community Dog Welfare, who supported our program.
Thecho Newa English School
Snowy, the one-eyed pup teaches kids compassion for dogs. One of our volunteers, brought her little dog ’Snowy' to Thecho Newa English School to inspire fourth and fifth graders to care and be empathetic toward dogs. Take a look!
Shuvatara School
Students from Shuvatara School were taught about safety around stray dogs and the caring connections we can make with them. Children were encouraged to speak up and share their thoughts about dogs. They shared interesting stories about their pets and told us about the plight of street dogs they have seen and how helpless they felt.
Thank you, Ms Rani Kakshapati, Principal of Shuvatara School for letting us conduct humane education session at your school. And, special thank you to all the teachers who supported our program.

Martyrs School
The interactive session we conducted at Martyrs School was responsive. During the session, we learnt about children’s perspective on pet care and responsibilities.
Holy Vision International School
Along with the students, the keen teachers at Holy Vision International School, were also very interested in our humane education workshop, giving us hope for a brighter future! We touched upon the topics of spaying/neutering pets to make them healthier and fight street dog overpopulation. We also spoke about the need of adopting street dogs instead of buying breed dogs from pet shops or kennel club, besides talking about responsible pet ownership and safe interaction with dogs.
