feeding and deworming program
Project Humane Nepal team organized regular weekly feeding and de-worming program for street dogs in different neighbourhoods every Saturday afternoon for a year (2015-2016) to raise awareness in the community and to provide care to injured street dogs. Healthcare includes both food and treatment for any infections or wounds. Our focus was to interact with the community as well the children in the neighbourhood, informing them about caring for dogs in their area as well interacting safely with the dogs to prevent dog bites.
Some of the locations we have conducted these programs are given below:

Sanepa
While we de-wormed & fed street dogs around Sanepa/Sanchal, many passer-bys said we should rather feed ‘poison’ to the dogs instead of the medicine. Another yelled why they should even bother to place a water bowl for dogs who bite/attack their customers. These are just a few examples of irrational and harsh comments that we received every week when we walk around neighbourhoods feeding street dogs and encouraging the locals to do the same or at least not harm them. In spite of these challenges, we still continued forward and we always will- for the sake of the animals!
Thank you Project Humane Nepal supporters for your continued support and for the confidence that you have on us.

Swayambhunath stupa
Swoyambhunath, popularly as the monkey temple, a famous stupa in Nepal is home to many monkeys and stray dogs. This was one of our destination for the de-worming camp. As the saying goes, "Treat all animals with respect and kindness", we fed and de-wormed the monkeys and dogs around the stupa. During the program, we also found two puppies in a poor state, who were suffering from fever, cough and no appetite. We immediately took them to Animal Nepal but unfortunately, they did not make it.
This feeding/deworming program at the stupa was challenging but a successful one; thank you to everyone involved!

Basantapur
Many lives were lost here during the earthquake that struck Nepal in April since most of the historical sites were reduced to rubble. Sincere gratitude to all the volunteers who helped us feed the dogs and talk to the locals to raise awareness about caring for street dogs in their locality
PashupatiNath Temple
Pashupatinath, a famous temple in Nepal, is not just a religious site, but also a home to many love-deprived stray dogs, monkeys and cows. Even though all religion informs people to treat every living being with kindness and respect, many people around the temple plain right ignored it and treated the strays rather cruelly. Considering the situation there, we conducted a de-worming and community outreach program. We fed rice/dal (lentil soup)/milk/paneer (cottage cheese)/biscuits to stray dogs & monkeys around Pashupatinath Temple one weekend. The focus of our program was to encourage locals in the area to show kindness towards animals and to contact animal shelters to spay/castrate dogs in their area.
Bishnumati area
imadole
Our first deworming/feeding and community awareness program for street dogs in Kathmandu Valley! On Saturday, June 6, 2015, we dewormed, de-ticked and fed 40 stray dogs in Imadole. Our goal was to interact with the community and children about the importance of caring for the dogs in their area and to teach them how to safely interact with them to prevent dog bites. This program would not have been possible without all your help- Long Dog Fat Cat Store, Kerry and Project Humane Nepal supporters!
tahachal
We de-wormed and fed 70+ street dogs around Tahachal. Our volunteers and team walked around the neighbourhood and interacted with locals about feeding the stray dogs, providing them clean water, spaying/neutering the dogs and most important- being kind and compassionate towards them.

Putalisadak
Jhamsikhel
On Saturday, July 25, we headed to Sanepa/Jhamsikhel to de-worm & feed (rice, lentil soup, milk & biscuits) the local dogs and to interact with the local folks around to take care them. They were very supportive and fully understood the message we were trying to spread.
