Shimi, a five month old kitten was found lost and terrified in the streets of Kathmandu. Luckily, Sneha Nembang a member of Project Humane Nepal, gave her the home and love she deserved. Sneha named her Shimi which means cat in Tibetan language. Now Shimi is the most loved and spoilt kitten who is the boss of the house. Shimi patiently and excitedly waits for Sneha to come home after work just so she can cuddle and relax on Sneha’s lap like a boss.

AMAN AND HIS PUUPY NHUGA'S STORY
May 29, 2019
Aman, a high school graduate student found a lost and abandoned puppy on his way from school to home. Sadly, she appeared to be sick and injured. Her body was filled with fleas and ticks. Aman then took her to the vet right away and shockingly, the vet had told Aman that she wouldn't live long. In spite of that, Aman didn't give up on her and decided to adopt the puppy and give her a chance to live a happy life without having to worry about food and shelter. Aman named her Nhuga which means “heart” in Newari Language. Nhuga is now 14 months old who is living a fear free life. She is a cuddle queen and the boss of the house.
Aman was also one of our “school education program participant back in 2015” and is now a member of Project Humane Nepal team. This is definitely a huge achievement for us.

kalu's story
February 11, 2017
Kalu is a little pup who was bullied by kids while scavenging for food on the streets of Tahachal. This is not a new scene to witness in the streets of Kathmandu, Several puppies and dogs are abused and usually die due to road accidents, cold and hunger. Kalu was rescued by Angeela and kept in foster care until his adoption. Luckily, his new life arrived after just a day’s wait! He is now part of a loving family, no longer abused and bullied.
Please consider adopting stray dogs, instead of buying from irresponsible breeders, kennel clubs and pet shops. You'd save many lives that way. Like someone truly said, "You can't buy love, but you can adopt one." Let us help make this world a better place to live, for everyone.

Sheeyu and lucy's story

Location: Shrestha Colony, Tahachal, Kathmandu
(Based on our founder's personal experience)
It really hurts to see how well to do and educated people in Kathmandu, the only Metropolitan City of Nepal, treat stray dogs. I live in an affluent Colony in Kathmandu. My next door neighbours who shower their pet dogs with unlimited love and affection at the same time treat stray dogs brutally. Just recently I witnessed two most cold-hearted incidents happen to the stray dog’s living in my colony. Here’s what happened to Sheeyu and Lucy.

Sheeyu
Sheeyu is two years’ old. He’s a stray dog who used to come play in the vegetable garden near my house. He was brutally flung huge stones and hurt badly. At later evenings my neighbour would hide in the dark with a stick to hit and then beat him badly. Several times during later evenings I would hear Sheeyu cry in pain as my neighbour would beat him. This went on for over 2 months.
He had even threatened to poison Sheeyu to death the next time he saw him in his vegetable garden. In fact, he was proud that even other colony residents support his decision to poison Sheeyu. I rescue him and attended to his wounds and gave him shelter in my house.
Now, Sheeyu has been adopted by a family in the United States and is enjoying his new life :)

Lucy
Lucy is a 6 months’ baby stray dog; her case is similar to Sheeyu. Lucy comes to my door steps for food and water, but my next door neighbour has serious issue’s with me because I feed and care for stray dogs. They have been insulting me for protecting stray dogs. They say Lucy is a threat to his children who are terrified of dogs. Why would a dog hurt you, when you do no harm to her?
Every day, they flung stones at her or splash her with water, to shoo her away while she is sleeping outside my gate. Not just my neighbours, but I have witnessed other colony residents and a security guard do the same to her, and also brutally hit her with a stick, EVERY SINGLE DAY. When I asked them the reason for doing so, they would say she is ‘just’ a stray.
I fear, that with such insensitive and egotistical attitude toward stray dogs, those residents are either going to beat her up to death or poison her.
Now Lucy has been adopted by a family in the United States along with Shiyu, and enjoying her new life.
