Asia For Animals Conference 2017
Project Humane Nepal got a wonderful opportunity to attend the Asia for Animals Conference in December 2017.
We participated in insightful talk sessions and workshops of fellow animal welfare activists from around the world. Our founder, Angeela Shrestha also gave a presentation about the importance of humane education and how our education programs have brought about positive changes in the attitude and behaviour of children towards companion animals and encouraged compassion and empathy. We were overwhelmed by the positive support we received after our presentation session. We are humbled and overjoyed that our passion for animal welfare education is shared by so many around the world.
Project Humane Nepal got an opportunity to set up a table display for our fundraiser merchandises, as well as to further spread the message about our mission to fellow attendees. We were successful in raising funds for our work by selling adorable animal-themed notebooks, magnets, tote bags, and alike. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat with us about our work and for donating! We are grateful.
A huge thank you to Help Animals India and AFA for sponsoring us to attend Asia for Animals 2017! We came back so invigorated, motivated and with pages of notes and plans for implementation of all of the great ideas we'd soaked up. Thank you, Jessika, for everything that you have done for us and the animals. We are also grateful to Anmol, Ayushmi, Brijesh, Margaret, Prayuk, Punit and Rubina for helping us out during the conference. It wouldn’t have been possible without you guys!
New Organization of the Year Award- 2016
(An excerpt taken from the Help Animals India's Facebook page)
"Project Humane Nepal has received the Help Animals India "New Organization of the Year" award. We could not be more impressed by the community impact of this young organization! In less than one year, Project Humane Nepal has educated over 5000 students and community members on animal welfare. During their first months, schools were hesitant to allow Project Humane into their classrooms, but one year on, schools are approaching them and Project Humane teachings are booked months in advance! Students show an immediate difference in their behaviour towards street dogs. They walk into the classroom ignoring or fearful of the local street dog, they walk out of the classroom wanting to make friends with the dog! Furthermore, students are learning new career opportunities within the animal welfare field. We are truly impressed by this new organization's achievements and the outstanding work of its young founder, Angeela Shrestha, and volunteer teacher, Shraddha Kunwar, and look forward to its future growth. CGI U '16 and the Resolution Project
Truly honored that ‘Together Against Rabies,' a new initiative of Project Humane Nepal was acknowledged at CGI U '16 and The Resolution Project.
In Nepal, people often believe that stray dogs are rabid, and the dogs are often the victims of animal cruelty to the point where hundreds of dogs are beaten to death or poisoned each year. Through this initiative, hope to raise awareness about rabies, conduct vaccination programs and sterilize females dogs in the suburbs of Nepal.
During our poster presentation at CGIU, we received some excellent insights from students, entrepreneurs and community leaders about our venture. Raul and I gained a lot of inspiration after meeting young students like ourselves who are looking to do some good in the world.

The Clinton Global Initiative University has honored Angeela Shrestha by acknowledging this humane education and care project as a 'commitment to action’ at their 2015 annual conference. Over 1000 university students from around the world, including four other students from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, gathered in Florida to share their passions and learn how to turn their plans into reality. |
