Orphanage Visits
Muskaan Sewa Nepal
Project Humane Nepal’s mission is to help children and communities understand animals, animal/human safety, and be a responsible pet owner. We stopped by a wonderful home Hamro Ghar Muskaan Sewa Nepal to talk to the kids about helping dogs. Their dog Coffee is SO lucky to be around such a nice family. All of us had a great time. The kids just beamed with joy as one of our volunteer, Yojeena, and her friends gave them all little presents. Thank you all for your love and support.
Fresh Nepal Orphanage
On Saturday, May 23, 2015, before the massive storm hit Kathmandu, we visited Fresh Nepal, a children’s home for orphaned, abandoned, and poor children from the most disadvantaged communities, to speak with the kids about how to be safe around street dogs, prevent dog bites and teach them to be compassionate towards thousands of homeless dogs. Since the orphanage, like the entire nation, suffered from earthquake damages, we conducted the workshop under the tents where the children (age group 8-16 years) had been living, for the last few weeks.
This was our FIRST informal humane education program on such an extremely important yet ignored topic in our society. It was wonderful to see children’s positive responses and interest in the topic, understand their affinity towards animals and watch their desire to help them in need.

asha school
We recently visited Asha School for underprivileged kids in Sinamangal slum area to teach children about safety around dogs, responsible pet care and compassion for all animals. Since, the devastating earthquake, the school building was not safe to run classes, so, temporarily the kids were sheltered under tents. Thank you Maureen for letting us come talk with the children!
A big THANK YOU to our volunteers Yojeena, Biraj, Rasma and Sanjay for bringing notebooks/sketchbooks, crayons, color pencils and chocolates for the kids- they loved it! Thank you so much for your time. Also, Brijesh and Yojeena for all the wonderful photos!

Paropakar Orphanage
Bal Sewa griha
We visited Bal Sewa Griha to talk to the children about responsibility of owning a pet and to help them develop greater compassion and respect for pets as well as street dogs. Bal Sewa Griha is a non-profit organization, which has been supporting orphaned, abandoned, discriminated and underprivileged children by providing them food, shelter, education and healthcare, since 1995. The founder of the organization, Mira Tamata Gurung who was also present during the presentation, found the session so useful that she invited us again to visit their other orphanage to speak with the kids there. Our volunteers, Yojeena and her friends also brought little gifts for the kids and the children were beyond thrilled. Thank you Yojeena, Biraj & Rasma, for bringing smiles to the children there. Thanks again Meera for letting us visit your orphanage! It was a pleasure!
